What is Molecular Robotics?

“Molecular Robotics” is an academic field that aims to build systems—namely “molecular robots”—by using biomolecules such as nucleic acids, proteins, and lipids as primary materials, molecularly designing the basic elements of robots (e.g., sensors for detection, processors for computation, and motors for actuation), and integrating these molecular components. We seek to understand the principles behind molecular design and system integration, and to apply the designed molecules and systems (molecular robots).

The foundational disciplines range widely, including the natural sciences, engineering, informatics, medicine, and the humanities. We aim to fuse existing fields (physics, chemistry, biology, materials science, mechanical engineering, medicine, informatics, the humanities, etc.) and to create new research domains.

Today, molecular robotics continues to pursue fundamental scientific principles, while also entering a phase of development that looks ahead to medical and industrial applications.

This Molecular Robotics Society (also known as Molbot) fosters the foundations of molecular robotics by strengthening ties among related researchers, while also keeping in mind new collaboration among academia, industry, and government ( Society Overview).

Membership Benefits

Regular Member
You can attend and present at the Annual Meeting on Molecular Robotics at the discounted member rate. You can also participate in related activities at member prices.
Student Member

You can attend the annual meeting and related activities at the discounted student member rate.

To apply as a new student member or to pay the annual fee as a student member, you must be enrolled in a university or graduate school at the time of the procedure.
However, if you are scheduled to enroll in a university or graduate school during the fiscal year, you may complete the procedure as a student member by providing the name of your de facto research supervisor who can confirm that fact.
Supporting Member
One person may attend the Annual Meeting on Molecular Robotics free of charge, with an opportunity to present.
Honorary Member
You can participate in the annual meeting and related activities without paying the admission fee or annual membership fee.
Affiliate Member
You can participate in activities organized or co-organized by the society at the affiliate member rate.

How to Join
